Created on July 29, 2014, the IEAv Student Chapter is a group graduate and undergraduate students from IEAv /ITA with the objective of organize events and activities in the field of optics and photonics, which promotes the exchange of information and experiences among students, researchers, professors and professionals from various countries. Another important function of this student organization is to bring to the community that surrounds it, the basics of optics and photonics, demonstrating the benefits and the importance that this area of ​​knowledge has for society.

The Chapter is based on the largest existing optical society today, The Optical Society (OSA), which has as members the most renowned names in the field.
